It’s time to clone. Instagram will allow users to create AI versions of themselves.
Well, maybe someone has been waiting for this for a long time and finally got it. Meta is launching AI Studio, which will allow you to create AI versions of yourself via its website or by launching a new“AI chat” directly on Instagram. Now it will be easier and faster to delegate your responsibilities. The company announced this on July 29, writesThe Verge.
The feature is designed for content creators or business owners to create their own AI profiles to communicate with subscribers. They will be able to communicate with people in chat chains and respond to comments on the author’s account.
Users will now have two character options: regular AI characters that are mostly for entertainment, and “creator AI” to follow business owners, content creators, and celebrities.Creators will also be able to set up automatic responses from their AI and dictate which accounts it is allowed to interact with.
Also, AI Studio has planned to create entirely new AI characters in all Meta apps. The company was inspired by such startups as Character.AI and Replika, where users are already communicating with thematic chatbots. Meta will also allow users to interact with AI characters created by other people.
Tests of this new feature have already been conducted with some well-known Instagrammers. The idea behind the first test was to allow several celebrities to create AI versions of themselves with the same face but different names and profiles. At the time, Meta stated that it went this route because of concerns that AI versions of celebrities would say something inappropriate on behalf of their live models, a risk that does not go away even with the limitations built into AI Studio, as we are talking about generative AI.
And now Meta is making it available to more authors in the US. The company also claims that this artificial intelligence can help solve the problem of message overload for the most popular Instagram users.
The company notes that AI profiles will be clearly labeled on all platforms. The guide for the creators of such AIs suggests that they will determine the prohibited topics themselves. Examples of questions that AIs may be prohibited from answering include: “Should I invest in cryptocurrency?”
Unfortunately, this new tool from Meta will be limited for Ukrainians.
