10 professions that AI may replace in the future
Artificial intelligence is developing so rapidly that it can be used to quickly get answers to many questions, create photos, process large amounts of data, conduct business analysis, and identify problems. In the near future, ChatGPT artificial intelligence will be able to replace at least 300 million workers in 1016 professions worldwide. This is reported by economist.com.
Amazon employees who tested ChatGPT said it demonstrated impressive skills in solving customer support problems and creating training materials.
Business Insider conducted a study to compile a list of professions that are most at risk of being replaced by artificial intelligence (AI). The publication convinces that ChatGPT can be more powerful than we have ever imagined.
At Google, they said that they would theoretically consider hiring this bot as a junior coder if it were interviewing for a job at their company.
By these measures, tech companies such as IBM and British telecom giant BT Group have already announced staff cuts.
Expert research from Goldman Sachs showed that generative AI tools could actually impact 300 million full-time jobs worldwide.
According to analysis by McKinsey, more than 12 million Americans could change careers by 2030 to avoid losing their jobs to process automation.
So, what professions can be replaced by AI in the future
- Graphic designers: The DALL-E AI tool generates images in seconds. Therefore, this tool can have a significant impact on the graphic design industry.
- Financial professions (analysts, advisors): market analysts, financial analysts, personal financial advisors, and other personal finance professions that require working with large amounts of digital data may be affected by artificial intelligence.
- Technological professions (programmers, software engineers, data analysts): It is possible that ChatGPT and similar AI tools may fill some gaps in the near future. However, Oded Netzer, a professor at Columbia Business School, believes that artificial intelligence will help programmers, not replace them.
- Teachers: AI can teach students in certain subjects, which calls into question the role of teachers. At the same time, there will always be a need for human connection accompanied by personalized learning.
- Media professions (advertising, content creation, technical writing, journalism). AI reads and writes texts well, but still makes mistakes. However, in the future, the situation will improve and generative technologies will easily analyze and interpret huge amounts of information – with high results.
- Legal professions (paralegals): Similar to media professions, AI can analyze large stacks of legal documents and prepare drafts, which can affect the work of, for example, paralegals and legal advisors.
- Market analysts: AI can analyze data and predict trends well, which automates the work of market analysts.
- Traders: certain professions on Wall Street may be at risk. Investment banks hire university graduates who then work like robots for two or three years, doing only Excel modeling. And this does not require people at all, artificial intelligence can handle it.
- Accountants: AI is able to process accounting data, so “intellectual labor” in particular may be at risk.
- Customer support agents: AI chatbots are already replacing humans in customer service, and this trend is set to intensify.
The researchers concluded that 80% of Americans could shift 10% of their responsibilities to the neural network, and 19% of employees could give half of their work to the neural network.
Conclusion
However, the machine cannot replace humans in everything yet.
In many professions, the human factor plays a big role besides brains. For example, the ability to “read between the lines” emotions and feelings of another person, to sympathize and enter the situation, and finally, charisma are qualities that are inherent only in a flesh-and-blood person. And in some professions, they are irreplaceable. At least in teaching, or in medicine and even partly in law.
Thus, AI will not be able to completely replace humans in any field yet. However, it can take over most of the routine work and thus displace a significant part of novice employees.
