The New Year holidays are a time when many people take a break from the hustle and bustle of social media and relax. But to make it easier to enter the new working year, we have compiled a list of trends that will be popular on social media in 2025. And in order not to be left behind, we need to adjust our content to these new realities.

I’ll warn you right away, for those who are active on several social networks, especially in “pink” or on stubborn YouTube, some of these trends will not seem like something new. But it’s important to understand what a trend is. It’s not just something new that suddenly appeared and everyone is like that: “Wow, finally something fresh!”. Trends are long-term processes that develop over months or even years. By the way, if you are interested in the topic of trends in more depth, we recommend Rohit Bhargava’s book “Megatrends”.

Well, let’s go!

Content personalization

We’ve always tried to create content based on the needs of our audience, even dividing it into segments within our communities. For example, if you run a marketing blog, you create different materials for professionals, newcomers to the field, and entrepreneurs. But nowadays, people increasingly do not see what they need in other people’s content. That’s why our task is to hit the mark, adapting each content element to each user group.

In this big trend, it is noticeable that many large blogs are either moving to narrow specialization or creating separate blogs for each major topic. Hence the next trend of 2025.

Paid subscription clubs

This story is not new. For example, YouTubers have long been offering their subscribers unique paid content. Paid channels on Telegram are also popular thanks to cool tools for protecting content from copying. However, when we talk about a trend, it means that the phenomenon is becoming widespread.

In my opinion, this is also related to the personalization of content and the desire of users to be part of smaller communities closer to the author. People are already sick of these expensive courses from bloggers for thousands, which most cannot afford. Clubs, on the other hand, are inexpensive, but very effective.

In addition, authors do not spray their content on random subscribers, but work with an interested audience, which brings more benefits. And no one has canceled the trend of blog burnout and closure either.

Video content

In 2021, Instagram switched to vertical formats, YouTube started with horizontal videos, and Shorts failed to outpace Reels or TikTok in popularity. But this doesn’t mean that everyone needs to become a podcaster immediately.

We don’t understand much yet, but it’s worth testing different options and getting used to the fact that editing and visuals will become the basis for social media. Video holds the attention of users better, which means they spend more time on the platform, and you can earn more from advertising.

That’s why our main message for 2025 is that you can complain as much as you want that people don’t listen to you and don’t appreciate text content. But social media is a business! Where statistics show greater engagement, they are developing. And this is logical, given that all social networks are moving towards video content. No matter how crooked it is, we have what we have.

Stories and storytelling

Well, for those who abandoned Instagram because they were tired of making stories, we have bad news for you. People are still reaching for the same circles at the top of the screen out of habit. Also, due to the constant restrictions on advertising, many bloggers have begun to actively “straw man” for the future. This means that more quality content has appeared on the platform. And without storytelling, no one needs your stories at all.

Accession of different types and formats of content

If it used to look like a recommendation, now it’s just a necessity. All authors have their favorite formats that they enjoy creating, and there are those that make them sick. But earning money on social media is not about “liking or disliking”, it’s about work.

Want results? Mix at least 3-5 formats, add new platforms, show variety for your audience, create unique features, but do not forget to follow trends and viral content. Only symbiosis will give results. And all these “Let’s go from Insta to Telegram”, “Telegram no longer sells”, “The future is for ‘insert something’” are cheap and unprofessional calls.
